Message: well a bigger TB would help the topend, also if you can be without your truck for a couple of days, send your PCM to mike leach in CA for a flash. i hear the 4.7 respons REALLY well to the flash.

Message: This is a really elementary question, but what are you talking about when you say "your PCM", and what does "Flashing" it do?

Message: i dont know why you think his question is elementary. the 4.7 is a new engine and it dosent respond to some mods as well as the older magnums do (like headers for example).
the PCM is the computer in your truck. when you "flash" it, you are putting a new program into it. via another computer. it gives it more timing, and changes the fuel curves.

Message: the 4.7 motor wakes up with a nice big intake,
there are many available, ranging from $100-
$300.
There are also many posts (you can search
for them) on building your own intake, the best
bang for the buck. cost: aprox $30 plus k&n
filter.
change out the exhaust, switch to 3" pipe
catback. $150 - $200 depending on which
shop and muffler you pick. I recomend straight
through type for better flow, and sound.
Robert shaw 180 T-stat, available at your local
auto zone $5.99 (part #GT755-180 )
dont buy the jet chip, or the poweraid throttle
body spacer, I have them, and I dont think they
make one ounce of difference, other than
sound. In fact I believe the Jet Stage II makes
my truck shift bad (automatic) IMO!
larger TB would make the most difference,
check the one thats on there, if its an 01 it has
the 68mm, and you can port it. if not buy an
aftermarket 68 or 70 mm TB.
speedtweaks has a tips and tricks page that
is really useful.
So far, cams, heads, etc are not available yet
for this motor, its potential is huge, and
companies will soon have many aftermarket
parts.
once you start adding mods, you need better
traction, tires, limited slip diff, traction bars,
etc. the possibilities are endless, just
depends on how big your money tree is.
