 Subject: idle return slow

i got a 00 4.7 auto. when in park it idles at bout 500 rpm and lets say i just rev it up to 3000. Well it takes a few seceonds to idle back down. On my other vehicles i have not ever noticed this. I was just wondering if it is normal for my truck. I mean usually u can rev it up then it the rpm's go right back down. Anyway, thanks for any input.

I've read in magazines about various vehicles doing just what you describe and it's always blamed on emissions controls. Something about the computer wanting to not abruptly close the throttle.
But I do know that it has to do with emissions. And mine does it too.
