i use the open style air cleaner on my magnum v6 and i noticed a real difference. as far as the hose from the valve cover goes , my aftermarket chrome air cleaner came with the connector for that all i had to do was punch out the holes for the hose connector and the screws that hold it on. now it breathes much better and was quick and cheap.

cheap, how cheap?? $$$$
and what effect does it have int he cold wisconsin winters, because i know there is a valve that open and closes depending on engine temp and outside temp, the thermostatic air cleaner damper, does that just get chucked out the window and not used, cuz otherwise i might have to warm it up good before i go anywhere in the sub zero cold.

mine doesnt have the thermostatic valve on my air cleaner , but then again i dont run the open air element in the winter. i live in massachusetts and i have to deal with the snow and cold too and i just didnt want all the sand and salt from the roads in the winter messing up my nice chrome air cleaner. if i recall correctly i picked a 14" chrome air cleaner up with the filter for around 30 bucks, didnt notice any difference in gas mileage. I noticed a bit of an improvement in the butt dyno with the 5 speed , i dont know how much it might help an auto.

Hey Super Bee, You WILL notice a difference in power and maybe mileage too. I put a 14" dual snorkel on my '89 V6 and it woke it up. Also good for it was the MSD coil and wires. You should ha something to keep the salt and sand from the air filter though. These fuel injected engines no longer have the hot air door on the air filter cases.
