Message: It will sound pretty good. When I run my 95 2.5 without the muffler it sounds a lot meaner than it is (ask Intense39 or blakdak00). But my advice would be to keep all your piping, cat, and muffler and install an exhaust cutout just after your y-pipe (if you are not running true duals). That way you can have it open all the time until you want to quiet it up for some reason or for inspection/emmisions.

Message: Dave... mean and scarey are two different things!

Message: Yeah, I know it had a little (hahaha) bit of a tractor sound but at certain resonate rpm and during shifts it sounds pretty cool to me.
Like I said, go for a cutout you will be happy. They're like 25-30 bucks from Summit or Jegs and you have your muffler shop weld that bia in.

I believe that on your truck you have sensors plugged into your cats right? I know there is nothing connected to mine and I believe that other gen2 motors are the same. With the sensors if you put it before the cat it will cause a false reading in the cat and cause the check engine light to come on.
Bottomline - If you have a sensor connected to your cat put it just after it. No sensor, put it anywhere after the exhast manifold that you want.

Message: the sensors aren't plugged into the cat...there is an up stream sensor and a downstream sensor to the cat. if you remove the cat, the downstream sensor goes ape-sh!t and makes your truck run really rough, but i think this is only on the OBDII trucks which i believe is 98 and newer.

Message: i've got a glasspack on mine which splits into duals. sounds REALLY good for a v6. got my cousin to do it. i wanted flows but he said that glasspacks would give about the same sound without the price. but remember, if you have to get it inspected, stright pipe or cuttouts won't work, but i guess it depends on where you get it done. anyways, i would suggest the glasspack for anyone.

Message: If you want any bottom end give your trucks some back pressure or buildup that motor.
