Subject: Bad vibration IP: Logged
Message: Just installed 70mm TB and 4" Z-tube this weekend. All I got to say is SWEET! But, when I floor it "WOT" I get a bad vibration at the gas pedal and the hole engine feels like it is vibrating bad. Has anyone else felt this?

Message: This is a problem with the air-flow. We're already working on a fix for it with Intense Performance. In the mean time, you can build the fix for this with a piece of sheet metal.
You'll need a flat piece of sheet metal (1/32" thick is plenty) about 1.5-2" in length and the height of the inner diameter of the tube. Bend the top and bottom edges 90 degrees and then tack weld them to the tube. This will break up the airflow and will get rid of the pedal vibration (based on the Helmholtz resonator theory).

Message: Almost forgot:
The sheet metal plate should be tack welded about 1" from the opening at the TB (inside the intake tube).

Message: Thanks bernd! If I don't do this fix and live with the vibration, will it hurt anything?

Message: Haven't done any extensive/long-term damage testing on a vibrating throttle plate...don't want to see what happens either. The fix is easy to do and most muffler shops can put the small tack weld in the tube for you.

Message: bernd, has anything else come up to fix this? i just installed a Fastman TB ("true" 68mm) and i get a vibration when i accelerate enough to where it shifts at ~3000 rpm. Dan told me upfront some people were experiencing this, but should i be concerned? this is something i dont wanna get rid of but i dont want it to be causing any problems either...
thanks for any help,

Message: I have a simple question for all those that have this Vibration on aftermarket t-bodies.
What Transmissions do you have Autos or 5 speed Manuals?
Just a question for reference. Please let me know.
Later,

Message: I have an automatic also. Some have said that the factory "air hat" will fix or not cause this problem. I have found that to be untrue. Here is what I have and I still get the vibration @ 2500-3000rpm: Fastman 68mm TB, factory "air hat" & Stainless 90° Intake w/K&N Clone filter. I only got the vibration after installing the TB. Has anyone had success using the sheet metal flap in the intake?? If so, should this be installed at the filter end or near the TB?
Thanks, ~Tracy
