Subject: timing chane question IP: Logged
Message: how often do you have to change the timing chane? what are the syntoms of a bad chane, or if it skipps a tooth?

Message: It will run sluggish and may back fire some times or it wont start. Thats how I knew it was bad on cars before they were computer controlled.

Message: You could hear mine making a metallic ticking at idle. I had it done at 42,000 kms., which a lot of my friends with trucks found hard to believe. It usually doesn't need doing until over 150,000 kms. and I have one dodge truck friend (who builds his own drag cars) who said he has never had to replace one on any of his trucks. Fortunately it was under warranty because they had it for two days and apparently it is pretty expensive to get done (they took the motor out).
