i tried the 180 tstat
it did get rid of my ping issue but
it also made my truck a total gas pig
and cold weather it kept tripping a code
"stays cold for ex. period of time
i went with NGK FR5 plugs
1 colder then the stock range FR4
and the pinging is gone
and i'm getting decent mpg's

Same thing with my truck; '01 5.9. So I switched back to the stock thermostat, and it ran good again. When I reprogrammed the computer, I tried the 180* stat. Works good now. Same gas mileage, no pinging when hot under a load.
