Message: I have a 2002 4.7, 4x4 3.92's and I do a lot of highway driving, (if that matters). I have changed my oil at 540 miles, then again at 2,976 miles, would it be OK to use synthetic now that I have almost 6,000 miles on it?
Do you think I'll have any problems with the new oil?
What would be the best choice, Mobil-1? and should I stay with 5-w30?
BTW I live in Detroit MI so the weather isn't too extreme
Thanks for the help

Message: I put in mobil one at 3000 miles. Stick with the 5w-30. Works better IMO. I have 10w30 and like the 5w30 better.

Message: I agree with CW . I use it and have had no problems. I also changed it at 3000 miles. This is one hot topic , lots of different opinions.

Message: Been using AMSOIL for all fluids since around 4000 miles. I believe you can't go wrong with their products, but of course that is strictly my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Message: I say go for it with the synthetic man! IMO use Mobil 1--it's reasonable price wise and readily available at most stores. Check my profile-we use Mobil 1 in 15w50, but, our Dak has 110,000+ miles! As the miles increase so do the internal clearances of the engine--in your case I agree use 5w30 or 10w30.

Message: I'll be changing to synthetic at my next (first) oil change. It's going to get hot this summer in Florida. Should I go with 10w30 or stay with 5w30.
Any comments on which synthetic oil and filter..?
Also, I only drive about 100 miles a month.

Message: I'd stick with the 5w30. The 4.7 is built to tighter tolerances than the other motors, fuel economy is not the only reason that is the recomended weight.
