Subject: Loudest Flowmaster IP: Logged
Message: Ive been researhing mufflers on their website and all i wanna know is which one would give the loudest powerful tone on my 2000 3.9 CC other then the race mufflers. And would keeping the stock y-pipes and going with a single or duel 3" out help it out?
thanks,

Message: I've got the 2001 Dakota Club Cab Sport, 3.9, Auto, I ended up getting the 40-Series Flowmaster (1-Inlet, 2-Outlet) and it sounds soooo AWESOME!! Pretty good, "rumble" sound. Getting ready to buy the 360 Cold Air Intake and I hope that'll add a bit of a DEEPER, louder and pwerful tone.

Message: Thanks guys, you narrowed my choices to a 40 series. But which one the regular or the delta flow? and would running duel 3" out be good or should i use the same diameter as the stock y pipe? or should i run a single 3" out? or a single the same as the y- pipe?
thanks.
sorry if im confusing anyone. im sorta confusing myself!

Message: Hey DakSport. I just put my Flowmaster 40-series on today. It kicks a$$! Sounds like my V6er just turned into a V8! Everything on my exhaust is stock from the manifolds to the cat, including the y pipe. I put on a single in, dual out 40-series, 2.5" ports. The duals are 2.5" to the back of the truck, capped off with 3.5" stainless tips. It looks awesome. The sound is great too. Hope this helps.

Message: In regard to which 40 series, go with the normal one, not the delta. The delta isn't as loud. All of the cars in my family have the normal 40 series: 96 ranger w/2.3 4cyl, 2001 4.7 dak, 72 pontiac lemans w/dual 40's, 2001 tacoma v6 and 50 studebaker p/u hot rod. This muffler sounds great on all of these. You can't go wrong with flowmaster. Look into headers though, and don't go with too big a pipe for the exhaust. You'll loose your bottom end. If you can wind it up, and you're set up with the right cam and intake, you'll appreciate big tubes. 21/2" or 3" is probably as big as you'd want to go. just a suggestion.

Message: Oh yeah! One pipe into the muffler and two out will sound great. If I understand correctly, from the muffler back, in regard to pipe diameter, you're really only changing the way it sounds. If you go with a larger pipe exiting the muffler or multiple pipes, in my experience it seems to deepen the tone. If you're buying a catback system or piecing it together, try using mandrel bent tubing. It will actually flow better than the stock "kink" bent tubing because the inner diameter is consistant throughout the bend. From the muffler forward to the engine is where you really pickup h.p. gains. If you haven't bought yet, and you are looking for a bad*ss sound, check out spintech mufflers. I Think the site is spintech.com. If I hadn't already bought the flow's for my stude, I may have gone with these. The sound was impressive with minimal back pressure.
