I own a 4.7 dakota sport, im planning on getting and intake system for it, any recommendations? I have been searching around the internet and have found a couple of models. K/n, Volant, 360 intakz which is the one that has caught my attention the most, im sure there are other brands. I also want that nice roar that comes with and aftermarket intake . What are your thoughts on this..

any homebrewed 3" intake w/K&N filter will make it breathe, add an exhaust and it will roar.
I used the Airaid heat sheild+filter, made a 3" PVC sched 40 tube w/90 degree ABS bend, a couple of rubber clamps...and presto!
p.s. it is scary loud!

I put an Airaid on my 2.5 yesterday - the butt-dyno says it did quite a bit, both standing accel (which is nice) and ability for the truck to drag its own @$$ up a hill (which is what I was after). The sound? Well, it scared the hell outa me. I had to turn the radio down and make sure I wasn't blowing something up. You'll hear alot of different opinions about filters, intakes, etc. - so I'll give you the two sole justifications for my purchase of the airaid kit: 1) it was guaranteed to fit my truck - 360 intakes has a good looking kit, but they wouldn't promise it'd fit my truck. 2) Price..it had a much lower price than anything else that would fit my truck. KRC said they would do a custom kit, but it was more expensive.

Hey, i'm also wanting to put intake on my truck and don't know which one to get. The homebrewed one, so that's one that you actually make at home or it's something you buy? About how much HP will these intake systems add? oh yeah, how much do most of these cost?
