Message: It is kind of a trade off, what you gain at lower speeds is about what you will loose at higher speeds. But in 0-60 scenario, a smaller diameter should get you a little quicker time. But once you reach top gear you want the larger diameter tire.

Message: I have a set of 29" tall & 26" tall tires for my dakota .With the 26" tires my 0-60 is about faster 2/10s and the 1/4 mile 3/10s faster , but the 26's have better traction.Rember that the 26" tires lower the truck and that lowers wind drag. The 3" will change the affective gear ratio it's like going from a 3.55 to a 3.83.

Message: Yeah, taller tire will have a bigger footprint for more traction but smaller tire gives gearing advantage - will be quicker as long as it doesn't go up in smoke !
