This stock 4 speed auto tranny with o/d is pissing me off. I dont really like going down the road at 60 mph and being in 4th gear at 3k rpms... What's a good 6 speed to get ? Anyone changed their tranny to something like this, rather than going to a standard ?

Just heard about something made by Borg from a buddy... called a T-56 I think... it costs nearly 1200 for the conversion kit, then another grand for the tranny... ouch. Why dont more vehicles come with 6 speeds ? Know how much money you would save on gas on long trips with a 6th gear ?

what size gears and/or tires do you have to be doing 3000rpm @ 60mph? i have 3.55 with 255/60/15 tires (27"diamiter) and hit 65 @ 2200 rpms.
the t-56 is the tranny that is in the 6 speed camaro. there is a bell housing to hook it up to a 360. there for it will hook up to a 5.2 or 3.9 as well.

2001 RC 4.7 5sp 9.25" 3.92 LSD
Ported 68mm throttle body, IAT adjuster, 3" flowmaster cat back, TPS @ .76V, 4" cold air, Roadmaster active suspention, Removed Third cat. Electric fan Convertion, HO cams installed.
Working on adjustable fuel pressure with return.

Would appreciate it... that would be awesome. Friend told me there was a conversion kit completely made out of aluminum (I think) that could mount against any engine. As for me, I'm running stock everything, and the tires I have are 275/55/17's... This is without the Overdrive on by the way... with overdrive, it's like 2300 or so... but at any rate, at 80 and 90... it's horrible.
you're the man intense... I think a commission of the membership funds should start going to you by how many questions you answer, cause you always seem to be givin good info
