 Subject: TB need cleaning?

This may sound stupid, but I don't have the time to fiddle w/my toy ('01 4.7 CC auto) like I used to.
Question is: The other day I noticed the motor seeming to rev higher than normal on my way home from work. At one point above 1K. Is this possibly my TB? If it needs to be cleaned,,what is the right way, and stuff I'll need?
Another question just popped in my head: I have an open rear -3.55's now,,,I would like to step up to 3.92's (I realize it would still be open),,but who would I purchase the gears from? And what's the 'usuall' installation price for them?
