I was told recently that mashing the pedal or even quick acceleration while taking a corner, tight or not so tight, does terrible things to a rear end with limited slip like mine. Something about grinding up the spider gears. I know when I take corners in my 93 4x4 Dakota with limited-slip, I can almost always hear a tire chirp. Is that bad for my LSD?

Depends on your gearing and the type of tires you're running. Mine came with Goodyears and 3.55 gears and that didn't cause a problem. Now I have Pirelli Scorpion Zeroes and 3.92 gears. Still not a problem......yet.

The dodge as a very strong rear end. and the limited slip is very tight. When going around corners you should hear a little tire chirp. Thats normal. As for mashing the gas. Worry about your tranny not the rear end. THat will be the last thing to go. My friend has a chev s-10 with the zr2 suspesion and he has a limited slip but i have yet to see it work. It is a peice of junk. THe dodge's are almost like having a locked diff. Dont worry about cornering or smashing the gas. I did it to mine and its got over 200000 never a problem and belive me i drive hard.

Hey, Mar did you say 200,000mi? What kind of fluid/lubricants do you you use to get 200,000 out of your Dakota? I was starting to think about selling my Dakota because it has 102,000 on it, but I guess thats not to many miles, huh?

Castrol syntech and fram filter. Syntetic diff oil. Thats it. If it runs good now and feels good. It will last for ever. Plus if what you said about the tires chirping when you go around corners is true your rear diff is in really good condition. See ya.

Hey Mar, how about your tranny? Is it auto or manual? What kind of fluid? Do you use the cheapest orange Fram or the higher grade?
