Subject: Just back from the track... IP: Logged
Message: Alright, just got back from Kennedale. I have a 95 Sport 2.5L 5 Speed. No muffler. Full tank of 87 octane (99.9 cents a gallon baby!) and the tailgate up. Out of the slips I have, this was my best run:
1.208 Reaction (My first time at the track)
2.739 60 ft
7.605 330 ft
11.792 1/8th ET
57.98 mph
My friend Frankie with a 93 Taurus SHO beat me by 1.736 seconds on that run. I saw Nick99 run tonight but didnt get to talk to him. But I did talk to his friend with the blue Sport on nitrous. You guys both have a couple of quick trucks.
I'm out,
Dave

I have a four banger with some mods and I would like to see how much of an improvement the mods did to my truck. I know that it is definitely faster than stock, but I wanna know how much faster. Plus I get my new throttle body next week so I wanna see how much faster I go.

Message: 2pnt5ltrluv: I'm not sure exactly how to get there from Denton but you need to hit 20 and go towards Arlington. Exit at the Mansfield/Kennadale exit. Y'know, the one with Priscillas porn store right there off the interstate. Take a right at the light and just cruise down there and you'll see a sign that says "racetrack". Take a right at the sign and go down the residential street until you get to the track. It's pretty easy once you go once.

Message: Hey you guys - I haven't been to the track yet, but am looking forward to the warm weather so I can finally try it. What kind of 0-60 times do you get? I had a friend ride with me last night, first chance I have had to try it (no ice for once!). First run was terrible, I just about lost the rear end - 11 sec.
Second run way better , just over 8 sec. Third, 9 sec. This wasn't with a dead-on accurate stop-watch however.

Message: Lesley
I know this isn't what you're asking, but here's a response.
The track doesn't really measure 0-60. On a quarter mile track (1320 ft) there are timing lights that record your elapsed time to the 60-foot (also called your "short time"), the 330 foot, the 1/8th mile, 1000 foot and then the 1320 (finish line). There are also timers that measure your average speed at the 1/8th mile and at the 1/4 mile. This is on a fully sanctioned NHRA track. Outlaw tracks (those not sanctioned) don't always have all their timers turned on.
So, you can figure that if Diligent Dave hit 57.xx mph in the 1/8th mile, and his ET (elapsed time) in the 1/8th mile was 11.79, then it's taking him a little over 12 secs to reach 60 mph. It looks like he spun very hard coming off the line (his 60' time should have been about 2.4 or 2.5 secs and he would've had a higher speed at the 1/8th), so that's how fast his truck is.
IntenseDak, on the other hand, is hitting 80 in the 1/8th at 9.6 secs, so then he is hitting 60 mph in about 6-6.5 secs. Not a bad job on Intense's part, but he has to keep an eye on the bottle, or he'll be right back down in the 9-9.5 sec range (when the juice runs out in the middle of a street race).
Hope it thaws soon.... once you get to the track, you'll catch the bug. Once you've caught the bug, you'll never be able to stop yourself. Every next paycheck will be instantly endorsed over to Speedtweaks, Summit, Jeg's, etc....
HeeHeeeeeeee
As for timing you Canucks.... I have no idea how the tracks are setup north of the line. Do you guys run the 1/4 mile or the .155km ?? Ha!

Message: hey ALEX
Actually I didn't spin that much off the line. The problem really is that the truck is rated at about 100 horsepower and I don't really have any mods done to it. However, I'm sure I can get it down by maybe 1 tenth or so with the configuration it's in now.
As for my 0-60 times. You (sadly) hit it right in the forehead with a brick.

Message: Dave, sorry I didn't read thoroughly. I thought you had the 3.9L.....
There used to be some guy named eddie_orlando that posted here and I think he had hopped up his 4-cyl a good bit. I may be wrong, but he's in a lot of the old posts from a year or more ago.
Keep at it, you'll find some secrets. Even McCormack Racing (the guys who actually anser the Mopar Tech 800 number) have themselves a 4-cyl screamer. It runs 15.0's but it is a high dollar, race-only type of deal. Just think... Speedtweaks is trying to perfect the 4-cyl turbo set-up before they perfect any other set-up. That'll get you moving.

Dave, if you need any advice I would like to think I could help, I went through hell getting the mods I wanted since it wasn't that popular to juice up a four banger. I drive the Dak only on weekends now. Do you know of another 95' Dak with 54,000 miles on the odometer???? :-) She's a cream puff for sure. I should try to get some pics up, I think you guys will like her. Got a new DuPont paint job about six months ago and new tires and brakes, almost showroom!!

Ain't it cool when you get that all-over new paint? Give you that same giddy feeling when you bought it new.
I didn't ever read too much of the 4-cyl hop-up posts.... what all did you do? Ever pull the head off & go inside or just bolt-ons?

Message: Thanks for the info Alex. Not sure how the tracks are set up here, probably the same as yours. I know they don't measure 0-60 times, but I've had folks ask me about mine since I got my mods done. There's going to be a "dodge truck shootout" at the Cayuga speedway, set up by some Canadian guys on dodgetrucks.org. (and some from here too!) I'm looking forward to my first foray into having some fun with my truck, as well as meeting some of my fellow dak owners.

When I saw you at the track I never asked what size shot you're using. How much nitrous are you throwin' at that six? That is, if you don't mind giving up that information.

Message: Intense-I never said U could beat all V8's...just that comment about that dude made about you keepin up w/ the V8's and he was so shocked. Pretty much any vehicle can keep up w/ a V8 if they have a good shot of NOS. I know a buddy of mine who kept up w/ a brand new Vette in his R/T. There is no way in hell a stock R/T can keep up w/ a Vette. But he was running 150 shot and stayed side by side w/ him. So that dude shouldn't be surprised U kept up it was all NOS. I can hit the NOS about the same time as U and who do you think would pull away?

Message: Hey NeedForSpeed:
I never said I was 'shocked' that Intense kept up with the v8's. I said that I thought he did 'damn well'. Although, I did think that it was really cool to see him runnin' so quick for a six. And I would hardly say it was 'all NOS'. He's only using a 75 shot of nitrous, as well as a good list of other things.
As for you hittin' the 'NOS' (he uses Nitrous Express, by the way. Not Nawwwwssss.) at the same time as him: Do you have nitrous now? Because in real life, it's run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough. The real world isn't about what you 'could' have on your truck.
