I have a stock 97 3.9 2wd Single cab dakota, will it outrun a 93 4.3 Stock s10 that is single,2wd also. Also how much more hp would just the drop in k$n and flomasters give me on my 3.9. Are there any more mods that give alot of bang for the buck for the 3.9. I was looking to get a 318 but i got to good of a deal on this one to pass up and am looking to get mor hp out of it.

I cant be sure but i would put my money on you because i think the 97 3.9 made more hp then the 93 4.3. Also i have been in a 00 s-10 with the 4.3 5 speed and that doesn't seem that quick either. plus it uses more gas then there is water. More then my 5.9 and theres no problem its just an example of overworking an engine.

Totally stock, the 3.9 and the 4.3 will be a close run, neither skunking the other. The 4.3 can be bad with minor mods but the 3.9 needs a little more $$ invested b/c of the displacement factor. It just won't have the torque.
