Message: My 160 has officially now been on 1 week and no light coming on... and the engine gauge hasnt shown above 160 degrees whether idling, racing it, or dogging it from red light to red light. She seems to love running at such a low temperature... me and my buddies philosophy is the cooler the engine is running, the cooler the air it'll suck in. Works well enough so far..

Message: Im under the assumption if you live in a
northern climate, a 160 stat will be too cold
especially in winter. The engine has to be at a
normal operating temp to run efficiently. Now if
you live in Cali. thats another story...

Message: Hi guys, another question.
My 1990 Dak. headers, ignition, intake, free exhaust, etc. I want a T-stat. I live in south Fla where it gets 98-99 easy. And only in the low 60s at the coldest. Should I go with a 160 deg T-Stat? Thanks.

Message: Well, I am not really thinking I will fell a difference. But I am hoping that it does MAKE a difference. With the way our Daks run and stay cool. I put in the 180 deg T-Stat this morning. Got the Stat-heavy duty one. It did visually look better. All went well. Tell ya how it feels later. Thanks

Message: Hey guys, I installed a 180 deg T-Stat sunday morning. Then in the afternoon, I went out with my Dad to do some gator scoping. We were out on local dikes checking the gators out and my truck started to run rough! I was traveling around 20 mph and running about 700 RPMs. As soon as I tried to brake, my engine would die! It always started right up and ran fine as long as I kept the RPMs up. But as soon as they droped, off went the engine. Wierd. But because I installed the new T-Stat, it has me wondering. Any help. Thanks
Joe E.
Olso, when I got to a highway on the way home, Dak ran like a charm, no problem. Even when stoping in town at lights!? Go figure.

Message: On my 90', the T-stat was right on the top of the (intake manifold?)/engine and the bottom of the upper radiator hose. Just drain some of the coolant out of the radiator, be careful, it kills grass and animals if they drink it. Take the upper radiator hose off. Where it connected to the engine, your t stat will most likely be. 2 screws hold the water neck on, unbolt them and the stat comes right out. Yours may be a bit different but the sme concept applies. Good Luck
