What do you think is the best company to buy a cat back system for your dakota. Meaning instalation, power increase and sound.

I'm partial to Borla but they are definitely the most expensive. As far as installation, I opted to have a professional muffler shop (not one of these idiotic national chains either) install it. They welded everything from the cat back. No clamps, no leaks. T-304 stainless all the way. Warranted for life. The tip is a phantom tip. Noise level? Don't try to sleep when I roar by.

Gibson, Flowmaster, Borla, Dynomax...they all work exceptionally well. It mainly depends on the sound you want and the tailpipe configuration. However, Dynomax, Gibson, and Flowmaster all stated the same thing: "A single exit system will work much better." (In twenty words or less.)

Why? Because the exhaust pulses don't have to fight each other to get out of a dual-exit (muffler) configuration. Exhaust is mainly based on pulses rather than flow (although flow ratings do matter...to a point). Most mufflers are rated on Flow Ratings which were done on a flow bench with a steady (regulated) stream of air. Your exhaust isn't a steady stream...it's a bunch of pulses. (Not to get too picky...flowratings don't mean a whole lot if the rating was done on a steady, regulated, test.)

So...pick what you like for looks and sound...not on who's got the best flowrating.
