Subject: 4.7L 3'' Y-Pipe? IP: Logged
Message: Guys I installed that Flowmaster Force II catback on my 4.7, and I also have a Airaid intake on it, now to get even more flow I was wandering if what Im about to suggest is possible? I want a 3-inch Y-pipe made to connect from my factory manifolds, to the 3'' pipe of my catback. I want to keep all three cats though for backpressure reasons.
1. Are there any high flow cats in 3'' in and out the size of our pre-cats?
2.Will regular cats work as our pre-cats do in the first place?
3.All I have to do to hook up the 02 sensors is drill and weld in the correct bungs for my three sensors right?
4.Will the new cats do the same job as the old ones and no MIL's?
Guys any info on this is really appreciated I think my next mod will be a computer flash?

Message: 3" Y-pipe will probably hurt performance. 2¼" Y-pipe and a 3" single would be a good balance. Don't know if there are any precats that you could use. Carsounds sells a 3" single.
2001 RC 4.7 5sp 9.25" 3.92 LSD Ported 68mm throttle body, IAT adjuster, 3" flowmaster cat back, TPS @ .76V, 4" cold air, Roadmaster active suspention, Removed Third cat. Electric fan Convertion, HO cams installed. Working on adjustable fuel pressure with return.

Message: what you need is 2 car sound cats with 2 1/4 piping into a 3" main pipe which connects to a 3" car sound cat
you will have to fabricate the O2 sensor holders on the precats though
