Message: I just got some Gibson headers yesterday. They look awesome. Are the Flowtech headers equal lengths for each pipe or do they just dump into the main pipe at different lengths. What type of setup is this for? I've heard that the stock exhaust manifolds run just as good as many cheap headers or better. If this is the only mod or one of few, you might not see the benefit of buying headers. Burnt wires, more heat, noisy, more maintenance
Or more hp, lighter, looks better, less heat if coated right or nickel plated.

Message: I took one out yesterday while I was working on my 1.7rr setup. All I can say for now is, they look nice, everything look ok at the time. I'll need to examine them better once I get off work. All I notice was the solid feel and the equal length pipes.
I can't remember but a few years ago my brother bought me a pair of headers, don't know if they where hookers or flowtech. They where light and the paint burnt off quick.

Message: yeah i'm the one that had them crack on me. they are cheap and junk. the 2 cylinders furthest back toward the firewall curve up in the air. the one is real close to the brake booster. this wasn't a problem until i started fixing up my truck and getting more power out of it then it started hitting the booster and eventually cracked it all the way around. it also had another crack in one of the other pipes. i bought me a set of gibsons now and love them. the 2 furthest cyliders back now curve along each other instead of in the air. they don't even come close to the booster now.

Message: Yes these have some short of clamp lines, nothing that would effect performance. Just minor blemish but overall it's still a good looking header.

Had a set of Flowtechs (had.)
All the same problems, same deal. (Nice engineering, huh?) Anyway, just got a set of Edelbrocks and set 'em up for 2.5" collectors. What a difference-not only do they work, but they actually fit(even with the modded collectors)and no more leaks. The Ultra Seal gaskets are good, too. If you're thinking of buying Flowtechs-good luck.....

Message: I had a set on my ram 360 overnight. Pieces of sh!t! Paint burnt off in 5 mintues in a smoking, stinking mess. NO exaggeration, 5 minutes. They did not seal at all, and the bolt holes were even off a little. Had to bore one out with a drill. Took them off the next day. You are better off with manifolds than those sh!tty headers.

Message: I know you get what you pay for but when I ordered mine last week I did not realize they were that crappy. I am on a tight budget, but I plan on sending the headers back as soon as I get them after reading this. Can someone please recommend my best bang for my buck(I have a 99 5.2 x-cab). I dont want to spend $500 for a set of headers just because they look good. I am more concerned with the fact that they dont leak. If I need to make some modifications for them to fit, I can live with that. The pretty factore is not a concern at all.
