Subject: V8 TB prep for V6 install
IP: Logged

Message:
I just acquired a V8 TB from a 5.2L motor.
I will be installing it on a 2000 3.9L w/5 speed, Intense cold air intake, series 50 full flow muffler, relocated IAT and Jet chip.
I have access to a milling machine and I know how to use it! So what should I do to prep the TB? I am aiming for low and mid range power for pulling.
Thanx
Jim

I just got my V8 TB today, First I thought I would wait till the weekend and put it on, then the more I looked at it I thought naaaa...... Do It !

Got mine from the Dealer it had the cable bracket and all the sensor's but the MAF already on it.

First off it is a breeze I had the TB off, the new one on and the TB cable changed in just a little over an hour, reset the PCM and fired it up, let it idle for a min. or 2, shut it off, Fired it up again and out the drive I went for a 30 mile test. For now I feel like I may have lost a little low end around 40-45 mph will just have to see how the PCM sets things up over the next few days. Other than that it is a great addition to my truck, When you stomp down on it goes.........

Personally I wouldn't try to modify the V8 TB, it's plenty big enough for a mildly modified V6, the fact that you have a 5spd should be to your advantage for any low end loss.

Good luck

Dan
