Subject: slight power loss. what the heck? IP: Logged
Message: well the past couple of weeks, i have noticed a slight power loss. it just seems like i dont have the throttle responce i had a while back. at WOT it seems ok, but it has been better.
i replaced both o2 sensors and the cat about 2 1/2 months agao, and the injectors and plugs a week agao, so think all of that is fine.
are there anything else (sensors ect.) i should check? any thoughts at all?

Message: Eric,
I have a friend/neighbor, with a tricked out 2001 chevy Impala, this car is Fast!
Anyway, he says that many mods on his chevy, his computer senses it's running too well, like fuel consumption, etc, and relearns to conteract the mods.
I hope I explained that OK, he says that he doesn't know about the Chryslers though, but he thinks it's the same. Like porting the TB. He says after a while it will retard the timing some so it doesn't have the same effect.
CW, Bernd, or you, anyone, is this partly true?

Message: I hope that's not the case with the computer reducing performance.
I would blame it on the weather or gas before anything else.

Message: I think the computer stuff may be right. Kota, when did you last reset your PCM? My truck will run great for about 2 months after a reset, then start to fall off. I reset the PCM, and its like a brand new truck.
Whenever something acts up on my truck, the first thing I do is reset. Just my $0.02

Message: What I'm saying is that it runs better when it hasn't learned. Immediately after reset, the truck runs better than ever before. THe shifts (auto) are a little flat, but otherwise everything is better. But, that could just be my truck.

Message: I got a question bout resetting the pcm. I just oon sum R/T rims on my 2000 CC SPT and had the pcm reprogrammed to the tire/rim size. If i was to reset it, it wouldnt go back to the original 15 inch tire size would it? THis may be a stupid question but i dont wanna play 30 $ again just to get my speedo working again.

MikeD, i havent installed the M-1 yet, because i live in CA and i want to get it smogged first. (its not leagle here) it will be on in about 2 weeks.
Todd, i dont think the PCM should be a problem. bernd has a guy that has a blown R/T in the 12's on the stock PCM. the last time i reset the PCM was about a month agao.
DAKSPT00, resetting the PCM will not effect your rim/tire flash. that info has been flashed into your PCM just like a performance flash. you can reset it as many times as you like with no problems.

Message: well i figured the sensors were fine because i have not got a CEL yet, so i decided to pull the plugs and recheck the gap.
when i got the the #6 cylender, i found 2 washers on the plug. i guess when i pulled the old ones, the washer came unscrewed and then screwed onto the new plug.
i guess this caused a loss of compression, thus making me loose power.
the truck is back to normal power now.
thank all of you guys for trying to help me out!! i really apreaciate all of you time and effort

Message: how do you reset your computer? All I know is that it has something to do with unplugging the negative terminal from your battery. thanks.
