I own a 97 RC, 5.2L, auto Dakota with just under
100K. This truck is basically a project truck that
will have almost all major components replaced
with hi-po parts, ect. My goal is to eventually
put a 5.9L in and get as much horsepower naturally
and then turn to turbos. My problem is that my
auto has been exibiting small problems over the
past 2 years and probably only has one year left
in it. I want to upgrade my tranny to a Richmond 5
or 6 speed with in the next year and would like to
know it anyone has had experiance with these
transmissions? I have heard that there the best on
the market, but also the most expensive. Does
anyone know if the floor board must be modified or
has anyone switched there auto to stick? Any info
on this swap or the transmissions would be much
appriciated. Also, feel free to email me with
anything pertaining to this. I will be leaving the
5.2L in until I fry it or start to have problems,
probably 2 years.

In my opinion if your wanting to get alot of power and your replacing it w/ a crate motor I'd opt for the 5.7 Hemi they are coming out w/ next year...335-345HP stock as compared to the 5.9 which only has 245-250HP stock. I was also wonderding about replacing the 4 speed in my 5.9 to a 5 or 6 speed. Do you know the website or phone number for that tranny?
