Subject: Cut off? IP: Logged
Message: I own a dakota with the 3.9 and I was wondering what the cut off on speed is. I'm hesitant to try because im not really sure what it does. Does it just slow you down or completely shut the whole car down? Any info would be greately appreciated.

Message: Your truck won't die. It'll start feeling like you're starting to lose cylinders. The injectors get shutdown by the PCM. As soon as you start slowing down, it'll pick back up.

Message: Ron is right on.
The car just wont go any faster because the computer starves the engine of gas. If you hold your foot down it wont let you go pass the top speed. Lets say the limiter was set at 90 you would hit 90 and the engine will cut out and return at about 85. Does no damage just to your pride when you are held back from kicking some rice burners ass.
