Can to much air hurt performance?
I have a 2001 QC 4.7L Auto with a Gibson single exit cat back exhaust. I'm wanting to purchase a new throttle body, 4" Z tube air intake, 180 degree t'stat, and an IAT adjuster all at the same time. This will be the extent of my modifications for the time being, unless I just happen to win the lottery. Which TB would be better, the 70mm or 72mm? Would there be a significant performance increase over the stock 68mm? Any info would be great, thanks in advance.

Until you have the computer flashed in your truck to remove the rev limiter, you won't be able to use all the power that the 72 mm TB will generate. The power provided by the 72 mm TB begins around 3000 rpm and continues well up to 6000 rpm. Your current rev limiter won't get you much past 5500 (maybe 5700 I forget). The 72 mm will basically kill your around town "bottom end" power.

You will be amazed at the difference that the 70 mm TB will provide you. It has useable power from about 2000 rpm up to about 5200 rpm. I'd stick with it, as it's a great buy for the money.

I went for the factory 68 mm on my 2k Dak 4.7, it had the 65mm from factory, the change made great improvements, and i have a flowmaster, 180 T stat.K&N AIR FILTER. IF I WERE TO DO IT AGAIN I WOULD BUY THE 70 MM , BUT I AM HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS.
