I bought Lakewoods for my 02 4x2 4.7 Dakota, and didnt notice anything except for slammed the gas from a dead stop. The axle seems to plant better and the wheels stop squeeling as much. A slight chirp and your off. I had mine mounted passively, the bump stop was damn near 2 inches away from the spring. I took them off cause they caused a fiece screech to emit from my rusty leaf springs. They seem okay but overkill for a pickup no matter how fast. They look dorky as well. $30 you can have mine, shipping included. I would recommend a anti-sway bar instead.

I have tried 2 things on this subject. The spring clamps on the forward part of the spring helped reduce the wheel hop I was getting at the track and on the street. Then I bought some $25 helper springs, the ones that look like half a leaf. I put those on the front side (backwards from the directions) and I can unload anything on the rear tires, all spin, no hop. Some old timer drag racer told me to try this, and it works great. It's only $25 to blow to see if you like em. Got me a .01 on the track.

I have caltracs. I'd highly recommend them. They keep things perfectly straight during launches. They are a pain to install though. What an experience.

I'll second a set of helper springs, they worked wonders on my truck. they also help keep the truck level in turns.

I bought superiors, they have an adjustable pinion, I used a rounded bolt with larger heads then the adjusters that came with them. works great.

Sorry to dredge up this kinda old post, but I;m having problems and need some help...

I bought a set of helper springs (1/2 leaf) and was preparing to mount them on the front half today. The problem is, the front edge seems like it will hit the parking brake bracket on the driver's side framerail. I might be able to clamp it on below the bracket, but it seems like just a small bump would cause the leaf springs to move up and the helper spring would hit into that bracket. Are my helpers too long?

Please help!

FYI, I bought Summitt helper springs that look exactly like the Hellwig /JCWhitney item.

Thanks,
Joe

v8dakota,

did you have any problem with that bracket on the frame? It sounds like I have exactly what you do, but I can't see how it would work.

Please help!
