I have a gen3 Dakota 318. It is basically stock except for a 210/220 cam. The idle has always been a bit rough due to the big cam but it has gotten very bad. In the morning when I start up I have to keep it at about 1500 rpm till it warms up or it will die. And even after it is hot it seems like it wants to die while

Have you checked your plugs and vacuum lines? Also check the distributor for cracks and corrosion, and I'd run some fuel injector cleaner through it.

Goto www.speedtweaks.com and look under "tips & tricks" and look under poor idle w/ big cam...it'll tell U something about moving the MAP sensor from the TB to the intake fore more vacuum.

Thanks for the info. i might try it . I have a few more questions. I read about indexing the distributor . Should I do this or does the bigger cam have diffrent settings? Also.. what do all these numbers for the cam mean ?

Here is the order of my mods if I can remember right...
Airaid K&N
Flowmaster 40 w/ dual 3-1/2" tips
JBA 9mm wires w/ brass cap & rotor
F&B 52mm TB
JBA shorty headers
180 T-stat
M-1 2bbl intake
Removed 3rd cat
IAT Adjuster
Then after all that I'm gonna get 1.7 roller rockers & a custom reflash of the PCM.

I know I lost a LOT of low end torque with the big cam . Which mod or combonation will bring it back up ?

The only other thing I have done is build me a cold air intake and I have a MP PCM .

Get some headers and an M-1 and see if that opens up the low end torque.

When the cam was installed, was it dialed-in or was it just set up with the timing dots lined up?

Im not sure how it was installed. Is there any adjustments to the TB or the Dis that I need to do ?
