Message: Does anyone know if 4.7L V8's towing ability can be increased without complete change of the rear end from 3.55 to 3.92?
Know of any way to get a little more than the
5150 that is specified for a Club Cab Sport.

Message: Are you talking about the Towing Package from the factory? Have to get it with the heavy duty service and cooling group.
I think my 01 QC is around 6,700, stock.

Message: It does not have the towing package on it.
I will be putting a class 3 hitch receiver on it as well as a transmission cooler.
The current 3.55 tows about 5150 pounds
the other 3.92 tows about 6200 pounds.
It would run about $1500 to change a rear end from 3.55 to 3.92 which I do not want to do.
Is there any way other than this to increase the current 5150 pounds up a few hundred more if possible?

Message: I will be towing about 4100 - 4200 pounds. The vehicle rated at 5150 should handle just fine.
I only want to help my own piece of mind a little more especially on hilly roads.
The more horsepower and/or torque will help more in these hill situations.
This is when the extra pull will help.

Message: Don't worry about it. I pull similar weight to New Hampshire Winston cup race - July, AC on, lots of hills, 3.55 - no problem. Group of about 10 campers, no one outpulls me.
