Mr. BOB ROSS maybe you should go back to painting on PBS!You cant read were a shiat,In my past posts I said The Fastest I have seen at the track besides me was a R/t with mopar pcm and a Intake kit!!!Later I refered to kennebell supercharged truck running 14.9. That was in magazine with a 4.7 supercharged cc.At that point I was stating how do stock 4.7's on this site run in the 14's if a kennebell supercharged 4.7 ran 14.9???????????????????That test was done in california and with witnesses.I never refered to you specifically there I was just speaking of others posted through out the site. I dont if your truck is faster or not I have never seen times for it.Anyways at least you have a dak and are proud of it I was just venting on all of the bogus times I have found through out the site.

Im not dening that you might have beat a few mustang gt. But you are right when you say it is all in the driver. Unless you have a car that will run 13 and then you have something that runs 19. Then the driver dont have nothing to do with it. I raced the 4.0 ranger with my stock v6 dakota. He also had 3hits and i beat him by 3 hits in the quarter. It is all on how you drive and how they drive. The gt is a slow car stock. I would not own one until the 2003 cobra comes out with the supercharger and almost 400 horsepower. I would like to see what chevy is going to do with there corvette now. I love when one of my companys gets alitte scared and try to make sure they dont loose there edge over everything else.

Mustang GT runs something like 14.8 i think probably mid 14's on a decent day... Man I saw some articles on that 03' Cobra your talking about... 390 horse 390 lbs of torque... and to think the 00' CobraR only had 385hp 385lbs of torque... Thats amazing. They said though since the 03 Cobra's dont have one of those huge spoilers on it like the CobraR's did the performance chip it has in it shuts it off at 155 but they said if it had the spoiler they would have let it go they said then it would have been capable of speeds up to 180 mph... Thats something else.

Well I guess it could have been a miscommunication thing cali but Im suprised that a 4.7 with a kenne bell only pulls in 14.9 I mean... My R/T5.9 with just the pcm runs 15.2 and supposidly from what iv heard from other dakota guys 4.7 5-speeds can out match a stock R/T *shrugs* So I would have expected more out of a blown 4.7 :^\ then again you never know the guy driving may not have known what he was doing.

Viper6 I believe your story. (Should have said that from the begining.)

I am not one to street race, but a few times I've been goaded into a challenge by an opponent I knew I could handle. I have been guilty of giving it just enough to stay a little ahead. Mudstains and Civics with fart pipes (not like the Fast & Furious, around here they just sound bad so they think they are "bad".) are usually the ones around here that get that treatment. I chuckle to myself when I imagine them saying "I almost had him." , knowing I was at 1/2 or 3/4 throttle.

Now that you clarify it was an older Z28 that might also make sense, especially a 3rd gen with a L98.

Or it could be the driver didn't know what they were doing.

Or they could have been keeping it close.

You obviously aren't well versed in the 4.7L motor. Go to a dealership and buy a RC 2x4 4.7L 3.92 LSD and 5spd. Now go to the track with a set of traction bars (approx. $45). With this combo a GOOD DRIVER could pull a 14.8 in the 1/4.

Now the 14.9 you read about was most likely a Quad Cab, automatic, with 3.55 gears. Was it a orange colored one? Remember the effects weather has. There was a article in Sport Truck and it made the R/T look plain slow. Weight, temperature, tires, and driver make all the difference.

Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

With that said I could put a Hyundai into the 10's with some cash, and be in for less than a Dakota...But who wants a Hyundai...

You might be lucky to get a hyundai to run 10's for a run or 2. After that its out to buy a new one and start all over again. Personally I would rather just invest alittle more into a dependable car to get it to run 10's. I'v seen those ricers that run that quick on ESPN2... Its cool but about every other car that pulls up to the line literally blows metal chunks out of the engine compartment and has to be pushed back to the garage because it cant make its run. You have to take durability into concideration too... Personally i would rather have spent alittle more on a good dependable 4.7 or a 5.9 to get to run in the 10's before I would place any cash on an economy car engine. Im sure hyundai's are fine cars... but its not really about the name as much as it is about how long and how much the engine can take.

Geez, Do lightening guys get dogged by guys with older blown 351's? Like R/T guys get dogged by 4.7 5 speed owners?

You dont know that you can get a stock 5.9 and get it in the 11s. All you have to do is have the right wieght to horsepower ratio. Then go through and have the gears in the tranny changed then go to the rearend. You might only get 5 MILES PER GALLON. But if that is what you want go for it

Wow, your pretty close. I live near madison and san juan but hang out at a freinds house every weekend night at manzanita and winding. surprised you didnt see me and my freind racing last saturday, it was loud and hard to miss. Be carefull, the intersection of madison and manzanita is a cop magnet. they usually wait in the parking lot of garcias and the 76 station across from arco station.
