I just bought a 2002 dakota QC 4x4 with the v6 3.9L engine. It seems a little under powered and does not have the "get-up and go" on take off. Is there anything that can be done to improve either of these? especially the accelleration on take-off. I can't even spin the tires. Is this normal for this particular engine? Would a new gear ratio help?
Message: Yep, sounds about right for this engine. If it was the same engine in a smaller truck, say a Ranger or a Tacoma, maybe, but the Dakota is around 2 tons. There are loads of things you can do....cold air intake, V8 throttle body, muffler system, new spark plugs/ignition, the list goes on. Visit www.speedtweaks.net.
