Subject: Throttle Bodies? IP: Logged
Message: Hi there, I am just wondering about performance TBs. I have a 1990 Dak3.9L V6. Mods include, K&N intake, edlbrock headers, JacobsOmni Mag Ignition, Jacobs 8.5mm wires, autolite 3923s, no cat, Dual Flowmaster exhaust.
I am looking for info on Throttle Bodies. Alot of people here talk about puting V8 TBs on V6 engines. Is it an easy swap or it it mechanic territory? Can you swap one to another with out fablication? What the deal on these? Also HP?
Thanks alot all.

Message: Yours is a TBI and not a magnum engine. The only thing I could think of to try is get a v-8 TB and put the v-6 injectors in it that might give it some more power.

Message: Well CW, I am looking for Pre Mag V8 injectors now. So I could really buy the whole assembly at a junk yard and clean it up. But how does a V6 TB with only 6 injectors fit a V8 TB with 8 injectors on it? Thanks for the help.

Message: With throttle body injection there isn't one injector per cylinder. There is 2 injectors per engine. All they do is use higher flow injectors for the V-8. To much for the V-6 if you are thinking of keeping the V-8 injectors.

Message: CW, are you saying that I should either get the TB or the injectors? But not both. With the mods I have done, I want to get the V8 injectors. I have been told they make a good difference. By the way, how hard is it to replace the fuel injectors? Not bad I have heard but are their any tricks? Thanks alot CW.

Message: Get the V-8 TB and use the V-6 injectors. I haven't done this but I think it would work pretty good my self. If it doesn't you could try the V-8 injectors and V-8 TB never know till you try. I think the V-8 injectors will be to much even with the basic mods.
