 Subject: dynomax muffler install

I just installed a Dynomax 17748 muffler on my 98 cc. I looked on the muffler before I installed for directional arrows or something indicationg which way the air (exhaust) flow should be. There was nothing indicating that. Does it really matter which way the exhaust flows through one of those? I have notice a smell too. One like newness being burnt off. Is that normal? The only thing on the muffler I noticed was two dimples on one end of the muffler, and one dimple on the other. Does that mean anything? Any answers or comments are greatly appreciated

I put a dynomax on mine and I belive they can go on either way. That smell should be normal for a new one just as long as it doesnt last too long. Not sure about the dimples but mine has a lump on each end. hopes that helps.
