Subject: Remove fan on 4.7l? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 4.7l dakota and I want to know how to remove the main belt driven fan. I have an electric fan that came with the truck, and I put a 180degree thermostat, I doubt I will need the fan that puts a little more strain on the engine.
Looking for cheap horsepower.
thanks

Message: I took a pipe wrench, 1 ft piece of 2x4, and some spray between the large nut and the pulley.
Place pipe wrench, (or wrench that fits it), put 2x4 length ways on end of wrench, (so da hammer ain't near the motor or radiator), and hit the 2x4 with a hammer. One good tap is all it took on mine!
