Subject: why change TB? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 01 4.7 dak so it has the 69mm throttle body I believe. Why would you put a new throttle body on and what would it do? I have seen people talk abou 52mm and 72mm TB's as well, why such a diff. in size? Thanks.

Message: A new or ported TB is all about getting more air into the engine easier. On the 5.2/5.9 engines, the TB is a 2 barrel (50mm each). On the 4.7, it is your 69mm.
The ported TBs have a larger diameter, thus 72mm on the 4.7s and 52 (x2) on the 5.2/5.9s. Hope this helps!

Message: There comes a point where the diameter of
intake (and exhaust) plumbing is so large that
it will ONLY flow high volumes of air efficieintly.
That means unless the engine is screaming,
flow is inefficient (doesn't get to the
combustion chambers properly) and
performance suffers dramatically. Of course, if
your engine likes living in the redline, it's no
problem...
