I plan on buying a Dakota within the next few months, just a few questions. I plan on getting the 4.7, 4x4...possibly a CC
1. Which Tranny to get? I don't really care which one I get, but want to get the more reliable of the two. Plan on doing some towing with the truck too...jet ski's, crap like that. I have also heard form my step father (Ram 3500) that the automatic tansmissions from Dodge have problems. Any truth to that?
2. How much room is actually in the rear of a CC? I would still like to be able to carry an adult or two if need be. Can you ride back there, or is it like a 500lb dude in an airplane seat?

Get the 5spd. I just think it's alot more fun. The CC does have pretty good room in the back. As to how many adults you can fit in the back I guess depends on how tall you are. I you have to have the seat all the way back then count on only one. If not then it will seat to adults comfortably for at least short trips. You can put one person in the back comfortably for extended trips (1-3 hours).

I've got a club cab with the 4.7 and the auto. If you want to carry anyone in the back you need the Quadcab. I can't even fit a child seat back there, and I can only get a skinny friend back there if he sits sideways with his legs stretched out to the opposite side. I have a lot of stop and go freeway commute, so I went with the automatic, and have had nothing but trouble with it. If I could do it over I would get the Quadcab and a manual transmission. And if I could get a 5.9 with manual, I’d do that.

Go with a QC, 5.9 and auto. This will suit your needs for towing and room for an adult in the back seat. I have an eleven year old boy that is getting cramped in the back of my CC.
