Subject: 46RE Question IP: Logged
Message: I think I might have a faulty governor pressure solenoid in my 46RE. It sometimes refuses to shift from 1st to 2nd doing a WOT run. Can anyone tell me how much this part cost
and how hard it would be to replace it? Any transmission experts out there?
Thanks

Message: Have you tried adjusting the TV cable? I have read threads on the RT board about this same problem and they fixed it by adjusting the shift cable. Try that before going into the trans.

Message: Well, I did adjust the cable some. I might try pulling it forward some more. I wonder if having it pull back for two months cause the pressure solenoid to not work correctly? It doesn't happend all the time, not when then transmission is cold. Only occures if I keep doing WOT from 1st to 2nd. To much pressure?

Message: you dont' want to pull the cable more forward, you would want to give it more slack, it will shift. but if you put to much tension on the cable then under acceloration it won't shift
