Subject: Educate me on throttle bodies

After I installed my headers a couple months back I notice my higher rpm's pull harder but, of course, I lost some low end. I believe my next mod should be a bigger throttle body to perk that up a bit. I keep reading that a 50mm is the preferred way to go for a motor like mine .. cold air intake, headers, catback. But why wouldn't a 52mm perform as well or even better? I mean more air can't be a BAD thing, can it? With my new taller shaker airbox I plan to run a 4" tall round element with Xstream filtertop. Will I be okay with the 52mm so that one day when I'm all cammed up and worked over I won't have to do the TB all over again?

Any thoughts?

TIA!

The bigger TB (52 mm) will rob more of your bottom end, but the top end power gain will be unbelievable. Looking at your profile pic, it looks like you spend some time off raod, and the last thing you need off road is top-end power (unless you're running SCORE desert races). You want to concentrate on bottom end grunt and getting out of the hole (muddy or dry). If you plan on putting a cam in later, then maaaaaaybe the 52 mm, but I think the 50 mm would be enough. I'm a drag racer and not an off-roader, but that's my thinking......
