Subject: 1.7 rockers IP: Logged
Message: Wondering who makes 1.7 rockers, where did you get them, what did you pay? I can find lots of places that sell 1.6`s ,but I think thats the stock ratio for magnums. Also do they fit under the stock valve covers, i. e. no clearance problems? thanks...

Message: i got mine from the dealer.(for $299 with pushrods, guideplates, and everything else) they are aluminum and made by crane.
the crowers are probably the best, and are steel, but cost a lot more.
they will not fit under the stock without modifying the baffles in the valve covers.
try krcperformance.com
they are well worth the cash and time!

Message: I have the Crower 1.7 RR's in stainless and they fit under the factory valve covers without ANY modification.They are made smaller because they are steel,and steel is a lot stronger than alum.I also heard something about "work hardening" with alum that,over time,will make the alum more brittle and prone to breakage.I paid something like $429 for just the rockers.A little pricey, but if you want a "cadillac", you pay for a cadillac, if you want a yugo.....
Hughes Engines also makes an alum RR
you might want to check them out also.

Message: Way different set up on the 4.7. They don't use the traditional rocker arm. You just can't go to a higher ratio. According to my calculations they start out at 1.8:1 stock. What we need is cams. I phoned comp cams and asked them and they had no info on the 4.7 yet. Oh well we will have to wait and see what comes out.

Message: the aluminum mopars are better than stock, and if anything happends to them they are under warenty.
2TheXtream, the 1.7's have been the best mod so far for me. at 3000 rpm it pulls real hard. MPG has not changed much (if you can keep your foot out of it)

Message: I have been doing my Mods in stages and plan on roller rockers.
I may add a cam latter on but I'm not sure I will.
I've heard that the 1.7s are as compatible with a performance cam as the 1.6s. Has anyone chaged cams and used 1.7s?
How much perfomance difference is there between going with the 1.6 and the 1.7?
