This was in our Ohio news paper 12-21-01,thought I'd share it with those that did not hear about it.
DONA VISTA,Fla. A man allegedly drag racing on a highway at over 100 mph slammed into the back of another car,killing two people,police said.
One of them was his mother,who was taking an elderly friend for a drive to look at Christmas lights.
When 21 year old Dwight Samples realized it was his mother's car he hit,he asked emergency works to tend to her first.
Diane Samples,45,and her passenger,72 year old Vivian Green.died at the scene.
Mr.Samples was in stable condition after surgery.His head went through the windshield of his Ford Mustang.
No immediate charges were filed as authorities continued to investigate the crash.Authorities said there was no indication that Samples was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Police said Mr. Samples was driving on a two lane road when he rear-ended his mother's car.Witnesses said he appeared to be drag-racing with another car.He was believed to be going 100 mph to 120 mph.
Authorities searched for the driver of the other Ford Mustang.

when you're going that fast and you creep up
on a car traveling 40 or 50 mph, you pass
them pretty fast, the fool probably thought he
could pass the car he was racing, and couldnt
pull out....moron! keep it to the track, I do
some stupid sh!t while driving, leadfoot etc.
but racing someone that fast is just dumb.

yeh im in orlando, my dad was told me about that. thats enough to make the kid wanna do himself in. really sucks. what an irresponsible a$$, the people like that give younger drivers a bad rep.

Epson. There is a big dif between racing out of control @ over 100mph and stop light racing up to about 40mph when no one is in front of you.
I hope you learned from this unfortunate accident and use good judgment.

This is why all raceing should be done at a track. Their are too many variable for anyone to predict on the public road ways. It is just too bad that selfish idiots soldom kill just themselfs. They are just like drunks they always kill everyone but themselfs!!!!

Jeffster,I have a question if you don't mind.I have seen many threads by you in-regards to you wining many races.Do you consider all your race wins form o to 40 mph?If that is the case no wonder you win all you races!

street racing should be kept under 110km / h or
65mph for you americans. If you wanna go faster
than that, take it to the track or pay the
consequences. Street racing is fun but lets use
some common sense.

Hmmm Bob. If the Dak's weakness is spinning off the line and I am ussually ahead after 40mph mabye 60mph depending on location then how well would this OHC 4.7 do through 110mph?? I have taken it to 117mph on the highway and beleive me it's acelerating hard all the way. This motor is top end.
I did have one race with a friend in the middle of the night to the rev limiter however. It was his turbo charged/intercooled Lancer.(only a 4 banger but quick) I did take him easily to 117 mph but he has no govenor and caught up and past me. I still need a PCM mod.
