Subject: Exhaust for an 02 R/T IP: Logged
Message: I have the flowmaster 40s on their but i am not happy with the way it sounds and it is a tid on the quiet side. I want something that sounds cleaner and not desorted than the 40s and also want something that sounds deeper too with more rumble to it. I was think about just going with a striaght pipe but i am afrade it might be too loud. I know it has 3 cats on it so maybe the striaght pipe won't be all that bad since the 3 cats quiet it down abit. Let me know what you guys think.

Message: I have an 01/4.7 with a 2 chamber 40 series...I
agree, way too quiet. I decided to opt for the
Ultra Flow by Magna flow, race series single
chamber 6" round 13" long, and switch to 3"
pipe from the catback and a 4" tip. I doubt that
my dak will be as loud as some of the hot
rods runnin around my neighborhood, so I'm
not worried about getting hassled by the cops.
I dont think it will pass smog though...oh well I
dont have to get that done for a couple years
anyway.
good luck!

Message: I would go with the strait pipe. I had it on my 93 5.2 and that had only 1 cat but sounded good. Above 2,200 rpm it sounded awsome. At idle, it was like a muscle car which was great. The only problem was that I doubt there was enough backpressure because I had to give it more gas to go as fast and that ate my gas bill alive!

Message: flowmaster rates there racing mufflers. I think
250-300 hp is okay for a 3"in/out single
chamber muffler 6" or 11" long. So I figured
the Ultra flow race muffler would be okay
without worrying about back pressure.
Jegs better hurry up and ship me my noise
maker!
