I have a 2000 5.9L Ouad Cab. I purchased a K&N 57-1509 kit from O`Reilly auto parts and it will not fit. Should I take it back or can it be modified. The heat shield will not mount because of the cruise control cable. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'd contact K&N first and find out what can be done on yours.

You have to move the cruise control assembly. I put mine where the TCM would go on a 4.7 auto setup. It's on the passenger side front near where you would change your headlight bulb. There should be two bolt holes (maybe even with the bolts) and they should be the correct distance apart to mount the CC. You will need to get a hole drilled in your heat shield for the cable to go through. The hole should be 2" in diameter near the top of the shield. After drilling you should paint where the drilling was. Go to Home Depot or your local hdwe store and buy a rubber grommet to fit the hole. Remove the CC cable from the TB and the vacuum hose from the firewall and route them both through the hole in the shield. K&N will not have a solution for this. When you install the FIPK put all the bolts and nuts on loosely. Do NOT tighten down until you have everything in place.
