Message: Im new here and moved to Dodge Dakota after a Dodge totaled my Ford Ranger. Rule of thumb for me dodge won go buy a dodge. so i have a 01 Club Cab 4x4 with the 4.7 and 5sp manual. I have a flowmaster 40 series with dual outs and a factory replacement K&N filter. I was wondering how much a throttlebody would help me in getting more power. I only have 3.55 gears and am looking to move to at least 4.11 in the near future as i tow a lot and plan on stepping up to 33's. any help would be great as i want to get as much as i can get out of this engine i just dont know where to go from here. Thanks for any help.

Message: 4.11 gears? You must do some major towing. I tow very occasionally but when I do its a 20ft aqua sport fishing boat. Its a decenlty heavy boat. I've got a 4.7L 4x2 with 3.92's and a 5spd. It tows the boat like its not there. With the 3.92's I rarely even use 1st gear. I usually start is second. Makes the truck much more streetable. I've heard that when combined with a 4"z-tube the 70mm TB from flometrics does really good things for performance. After the Intake then you could move to exhaust. You may want to reconsider the 4.11 gears if you were already towing the same heavy loads with the ranger. 3.92's may suit you just fine.

Message: Thanks for the info. I have a Heavy Duty Trailer and usually have it loaded to about 5000-5500 lbs. I would like the 4.11 because i want to also go to 33 inch tires so i can have as much performance as i can get and still have real good towing performance. Where can i buy the z-tube and 70mm TB. Summit racing is only 15 minutes down the street from me. I might take a drive over to them to see if they carry them.

Message: Try speedtweaks.net. They have some really great deals. Why the 33's? Do you actually use tires that big or just for looks? You're gonna kill you gas milege real quick with tires and gears like that. The 70mm throttle body is on Christmas ale right now for $385 and the 4" z-tube is $250. I think volant also makes a tube that will fit the 70mm throttle body. You should check into it. The volant only costs like $160 I think.

Message: Thanks I want to get 33's because i do some mild off roading over here with my friends. They mostly run 33's and 35's. And i want to keep up with them in the mud. factory tires just wont do. I was running 31's in my ranger and they were ok but if i am going to get new tires anyway i might as well go for 33's. And thanks for the web sight i am going to check them out.
