Message: I have a set of JBA headers , they work well for the street and are well made. You might want to install a ported TB first,it has to inhale before it can exhale.

Message: I have the JBA stainless shorties, and like em a lot. They hooked right up to the stock Y pipe.Since the rest of the exhaust system is stainless I was in no hurry to replace it other than to get a better muffler cut in, but I got a great deal on the Borla cat-back. I would a agree with the advice to do a TB upgrade too - intake and output upgrades should balance out.

Message: I have Kenne Bell headers. They come with the Y pipe which I would advise anyone to change. The aftermarket Y pipes are worth more in h.p. than the headers in some cases. The pipe is bigger and the Y part is shaped better for better flow. They are coated with a nickel coating and it has held up well for almost 3 years now. Also, pay attention to the flange thickness. Thin header flanges tend to have more problems with leaks because they warp easier. Kenne Bells are longer than regular "shortie" headers. They are not equal length but have a splitter in the collectors to create the equal length effect.

Message: I agree with Wayne!! I have the KB headers on a 2000 QC 4x4 with a 5.9. They look great, are fairly easy to install, and helped the power considerably. Really helped the low-end in my truck. I also agree with using the bigger y-pipe. It does little good to get the exhaust gases through the headers quickly, and then try to push then through the factory (smaller) y-pipe. It is kinda' defeating the purpose of the headers. The KB's are guaranteed not to rust or corrode. I replaced the bolts that came with mine, with Stage 8 locking fasteners, and I have had no problems at all with the headers. These bolts stay tight, and eliminate the need for periodic re-tightening.
2000 QC 4x4 5.9L 3.92LS, every factory option
equal-length headers and larger y-pipe

Message: while I was inspecting the job of the tb swap, noticed the ol' oil in the bottom of intake.looks like the intake is coming off once again..(dealer has done it twice, for r.intake, not sendin it in any more!) while im there going to port match intake, do tb swap, tps adj, 180 tstat and instal the m.p. ecm. then I think my next step should be to get rid of that damn fan and go electric. then go for some headers..by the way, thanks for putin up with the newbie.. spent some time on the boards , once I got the hang of the search feature I realized you guys had already answered alot of my questions. thanks for all your time...TD

Message: Thanks TD. The Borla is awesome! Sounds like it means business, but not obnoxious or too loud. Cab noise is minimal. A friend (who does Daytona pit crew work) helped with the TB, I learned a lot. There was quite a change in response, and when I held the two TBs side by side I could really see the difference in bore size. My dak accelerates much more smoothly now without hunting or sticking on a gear, and sounds & feels real good doing it! Man that Borla is a beautiful thing, too bad it's hidden under the truck.

Message: TD - just put it in and drive it. It will run fine but you will get a code. When you get it programmed, they will reset the code. Drove mine for 2 days before taking it in with no problems - just a code light on dash.
