I'm getting to replace the bypass hose and thermosdtat in my 96 dakota 4x4 5.2L w/air. Looks like tehre is a big thick bracket holding in the alternator and ac compressor. Does anyone have an efficient step-by-step procedure? It may same me some time. Thanks. Sirois@earthlink.net

I have a 92 w/140k miles and just went to swap to a 180 and one of the bolts decided to break off. So Im stuck. Ive tried ease out and cobalt drill bits nothing works. For that bolt to break fairly easy it sure is a pain to drill out. Sucks for me. So be very careful on older higher mileage vehicles or a 30min job may be worse than you think.

I am putting a cold air intake on my 2004 quad cab. Already have a flow master super 40 dual exaust. Can anyone of you guys tell me if the Robert Shaw thermostat GT755-180 would fit my 4.7? I know i will have to notch the rubber seal. But just wondering if it would on my 2004. Want to get the little things done so i can put some money in it.

So you've added an aftermarket intake, and a dual cat back. Both of which probably gave you a -2 to +2 hp.

Yes, that stat fits the 4.7, 04 and all.

Well could not find a Robert Shaw t-stat. So i did some research and found a Carquest part#60208 that fit my 4.7. Was easy to install too. Went in the top left by fan loosened top bolt. Went under and took out one plastic pin holding in the fan brush guard. Loosened bottom bolt then pulled the hose pulled the t-stat. Notched the new stat and it slid right back in. Threw the bolts in pushed the plastic pin back in its hole. Took it for a ride. Checked for leaks. DONE! Truck seems to run smoother. Hit 120 on the highway. But backed off and hit the exit when i seen a trooper lol.Next i think is throttle body and manifold.

Rich,

You have a 4.7? Then I don't think you'll be putting an ignition, or and M1 on that engine.

Take a good look at the 4.7.

Rich,
You best open your hood, The 4.7 has no plug wires or dist.
You do have coils on top of your plugs. Good luck with your 4.7.
