Hi,
I was wondering... If getting a K&N intake for my 00' 3.9 would be the best way to go ? I know it takes some modification to get it in there.. Does anyone know what exactly is entailed in doing that? And what Intake would I have to get to fit it on my truck..
If anyone has done this or knows.. could ya let me know..
thanx

Hey BlkDak, I have the K&N set up on my 5.2. I noticed a power gain, about as much as putting an exhaust system would give. If you are looking for a quality intake system, don't buy a K&N. The plastic intake tube broke once, and K&N replaced it. Now it is cracking around the edges and bolt hole. I think I would opt for the Air raid aluminum intake. Just my $.02, hope it helps.

BlkDak,
I don't have a K&N GenII, but the pn is KN 1517 for 00 & 01s. These are made for 5.2/5.9L. Our 3.9L is a 5.2L minus 2 cylinders. I installed a Volant intake system. Everything fit with a little muscle to make the brackets line up. I couldn't wait for K&N. Volant's heat shield is just around the filter and K&N's heat shield separates the filter area from the engine compartment. My Dak has cruise. I think K&N recommends moving the cruise unit for their install. Volant worked around it. So far everything is great and its CARB Certified.

Kevin, Sorry to hear the plastic is cracking. I thought they solved that problem.
