Actually I'm an all around Dodge fan and would love to see an major Mopar magazine test a RC 4.7/5-speed/3.92 LS combo. Even better a same day, stock-to-stock, -vs- a RC R/T. That would get me to not only but the magazine, but get a subscription. Professional drivers, same conditions, equal trucks, that just may end this 3 times a week discussion.

2k 4.7 Q/C owner here. In defense of the R/T you may have noticed the times in the magazine say uncorrected. That track is know for poor ET's because of weather condition
On a good track those trucks probably would be a atleast 1 seconds faster. Just something to think about.

Whom ever wrote that article didn't seem to like Dodge too much. First they took a picture with this 12's Toyota in the group, not to mention them blatantly saying it's a 12's Toyota. There was also a Firebird in the picture too. Why not mention it's 1/4 times. I also wonder how accurate those times where, most ran 15.8's even with totaly different mods? When my 2001 R/T was stock, it ran faster than that. Why not correct the time too? They weren't too accurate either, I don't remember the name, but they where calling the Blue CC R/T with Slick a something red Truck? OK. I wonder if they are going to do another article with R/T vs. Lightings.

Just headers and a Supercharger? Who's smoking crack. What would a Lighting be without a Supercharger! That's right nothing but a POS FORD 150, well it's a POS anyways even with a Supercharger:)
Was this S10 running 15.8 at the same track as the R/T's, was it's times uncorrect too. Doubt it.

Only reason they are #1 selling truck is because the "die hard" Ford fans know that they have to buy a new truck every two years to keep a running vehicle. Personally, I'd rather have a truck that lasts a little longer so I woudln't have to buy a new one all the time. I was the "bright red" IB R/T at the track that day. Temps were over 100 degress(Thats not celsius for you Nadians)and the track altitude was 2800'. Just for comparisons sake, in the Oct 2001 isue, they had a "Lightning Shootout" at the same track, and had a Viper, a Camaro SS, and a Stang Cobra show up for comarisons sakes. This was done at the same track in pretty much the same conditions(but funny they mentioned the hot weather in that article). ANyways, two stock '01 Lightnings were running 14.20@97mph. It took a 150 shot of NOS on top of the factory SC to make one Lightning run a 12.91. A 125 shot of NOS to run a 13.23 for another Lightning, and chip, MAF sensor, cold air kit, and traction bars for the last Lightning to run 13.91. The Stock Viper ran 12.86, the Camaro SS ran a 14.10, and the Cobra Mustang ran a 14.36.

i read both of those articles how interesting that they mentioned it on the first article but not the one with the R/T's...I respect the lightning...but a supercharger does wonderful things. What does a fairly stock R/T run with a supercharger and 8 psi....out of curiosity???

deal with it. It is still the #1 sellimg vehicle period. And mine had 300,000 before i got bored with it. I may put a ford engine in my DAK and have style and dependability. How many recalls have we delt with allready? Good styling. Bad everything else.

Very Fast compare to a GEO. I'll admit I've never driven a Lighting, but have own one FORD 250. Can I say, never again! What was I thinking! Blew First engine, bouncy as hell, A/C later froze, even the rebuilt 351W was slow. All noise no go!

I read the article, and was at first pleased to finally see some dak coverage in a magazine. I don't think the writer did a lot of work as the story seemed pretty empty, and as was mentioned the picture cutlines were messed up (I looked in vain for the bright red truck). It was interesting to note that almost all had the M1 manifold, and yet one of the fastest did not. So many variables ie: heat, track conditions... let's hope there will be more coverage to come, preferably without bias.

Obviously Tom no ballstell isn't a regualr reader of SPort Truck or he woudl have seen the comparison test they did with the Lightnings and got equally bad times. And a SC'd S-10 Extreme in the same magazine runing the same times as a n/a R/T is kinda pathetic. Makes Chevy look REAL bad. Especially since it was owned by Jegs, and had a few more mods than just a SC.

Lesly why don't you just get a V8.I think you would save a lot of money and go much faster.After looking at SPort Truck again,I think the blue R/T with 456 gears and the bottle should run better than what it did,but that is my a pinion.

Lesly I agree with you on the bias report,but I do think that R/Ts have a given image of speed to live up to and they fall short of that image.For the most part,if you want to get to A&B fast,you don't get the heaviest truck{all but one truck was a CC cab and the regular cab was not fast}I would like to see a Mopar magazine run a 4.7 auto regular cab with 392 gears against a R/T regular cab with 392 gears.Know that would be interesting.

Well, Tommy. Let me explain it simple so your simple mind can understand. I am originally from Nebraska so HSKR is the nick I use on most forums. YOu know HSKR as in Nebraska HuSKeRs! And don't try to rag on me because they lost. Big f-in deal. There are only two other teams now with undefeated records, so one loss isn't that bad. And as far as reading Sport Truck, I have a subscription, and the Blue R/T in the Jan '02 issue is MINE!!! Yes, you heard my right, I own the IB CC Dakota R/T in the Jan '02 issue of Sport truck that ran a 15.8 in 100 Degree temps at 2800'. Want any more info on my truck??
