Subject: Intake gasket the cause? IP: Logged
Message: My '99 V6 3.9 SLT automatic seems to have the beginning symtoms of an intake gasket leak, but I'm not quite sure. I haven't noticed it using much, if any, oil though. The only time I notice the pinging and loss of power is when I'm on the freeway and going up a steep grade. If my check engine light has flashed a couple times, will the computer keep that in its memory so the service techs can pin-point the problem? Or isn't it that simple? Also, what does TSB stand for?

Message: The code will be stored, but will probably be a multiple cylinder misfire doesn't tell you the cause. But they may be able to find the source of the detonation.

Message: If myou suspect the intake gasket leaking, this is a simple test. Start the truck, pop the hood, then spray starter fluid around the intake.A rise in rpm is a leak. Cheap and simple.

Message: If it is a intake plenum pan leaking then it is a internal leak. The oil being sucked into the cumbustion chamber causes the detionation.
