Subject: Part I would need to build my own intake IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know of a site or someone that knows the parts needed to build their own intake kit. The big part is the filter, and should it be a K&N or the new Holley Power Shot? Any ideas or help is appreciated.

Message: Skeletor,
I used the search function at top of page and put in homebrew intake. A bunch of previous postings popped up regarding homemade air intakes with suggestions and web pages with intake information, give it a look and see if it helps you out!

Message: I would suggest you visit knfilters.com and research the FAQ section. You will find a few pictures of intakes when you search the archives, that should help you out. If it dosen't, I'd be happy to e-mail you some pictures of mine and maybe some useful tips.

Message: Skeletor, from another post
I've seen the one on e-bay and agree with CW. Actually I think using a 3" fernco quick elbow off the TB is better, (a smoother flow, not so short as a ABS 90 is). I would go with a rubber elbow,a clamp at each end) a short length of ABS pipe,a ABS 90 with a 1/2" hole drilled into the side of it(and screw a 1/2" brass nipple into it and clamp the breather hose to it)glue a short piece of pipe in the 90 to get your K&N filter as close to the front as possible. Remove the restrictive rubber piece in the radiator support. My K&N has a stud out the front which I bolted to the fender well with a bracket I made. No heat shield yet, not sure if I'm going to need one? Worked pretty slick.

Message: What type of engine?? I got this intake on ebay and works great. If you have the 4.7L engine, you can use the photos at the auction to help in your design. Or, save time and order the intake. Uses re-0870 k&n filter. Contact the guy who does the auction; he may help you. (cut and paste the below link into your address line).
