Hello,

I was wondering if a bad cap and rotor could be causing a high end miss... about about 55 mph the engine on my dak misses.

The current cap and rotor is Aluminum and its about 2 years old.. i've been told they wear out quickly.. could it be bad?

Thanks

That is a possibility, check your wires with a ohm meter 4000 ohms per foot is the norm, plugs as well. Check fuel filter as well should be on the frame. Yours is a 87' right?

All I can say is check the basics first cap, rotor, compression, fuel pressure 3-5 psi range. Good luck and hope you find the problem.

Easy to install, just mark #1 cylinder on the old cap match it to the new one, then transfer the wires one at a time going around the cap to make sure they go on the same way. There is a notch on the bottom of the cap make sure the notches are in the same spot when you transfer the wires because the cap will only go on one way.

If you like getting UPS/FEDEX packages (like I do), order your stuff from SpeedTweaks. Otherwise you can get your brass cap/rotor from Pep Boys (Borg Waner) or at a NAPA parts store (identical to Borg Warner).

I recently installed the MSD Super Conductor wires. I think the wires are great. However, it is a pain the the ear to mess with oversized wires. I bet there are some good wires that are 7mm or 8mm that will fit in the stock wire brackets and that will not cost you an arm and a leg. (MSD's were about $80).
