ok ive had enough...I wanna know why those chevy 350s put out 282hp stock and the 5.9 360 only makes 250hp. Ive always thought the bigger engine should make more power unless its supercharged, right?

Those # are from the new LS1 engines not the old 350 (LT1). The new 364 ci (6.0liter) makes 325 hp and 345 in the Caddy Escalade and the new 327 ci (5.3liter) makes 285hp. The 350 died excecpt for in the full size van in 1999 and so did the 305.

Yes 345 HP SuperDak but you need at least that to even get that ugly tank moving.

345 HP in a Dak however. Zoom zoom. Ask Duner he's got even more than that.

Don't forget to mention that the new Chevy I-6 in the Envoy and Trailblazer makes 270.

Yep but way way behind on the torque front. Heck it's even over 100lb behind the 5.9. I am sure Dodge could easily trick up their numbers for a high HP peak but they prefer to offer us real broad based power.

How many N/A trucks or SUV's are running 14's. Mopar is all engine baby.

We should all keep in mind that there is
sometimes a big gap between peak torque
and horsepower and usable torque and
horsepower. How many of us (dare I ask)
routinely keep there revs at peak output on the
street? Anyway, I think GM may be using the
gray area there as cover for some creative
number crunching. God knows it wouldn't be
the 1st time.

Also, chevy's just natuarally breath better.Remember, engines are just air pumps. The better they breath, the better the performance. Case in point;hemis don't come alive til' the upper rpm range where they were designed to breath. Porting and polishing can do wonders on anything with the right cam and exhuast.

Uhhhh...so can using better technology and parts from the factory! (LS1 and SVT are prime examples of this.)

BTW: Polishing the runners doesn't do squat unless you're running Nitro-Methane or Alcohol. Polish the combustion chamber only to prevent detonation with higher compression or super/turbocharging (or nitrous).
